Dr Shivram Nadkarni 

Dr Shivram Nadkarni is a highly experienced eye surgeon with over three decades of experience. He did his undergraduate and post-graduate training in Ophthalmology in the prestigious Bombay (now Mumbai) University and the National Board in New Delhi.

Throughout his career, Dr Nadkarni has undertaken advanced training in Cataract, Squint, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Medical Retina in All India Institute Of Medical Science in New Delhi, LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad (India), Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco, Singapore National Eye Centre, Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne and Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide. 

 

Dr Nadkarni has performed over 10,000 cataract surgeries, 1000 squint surgeries, and a few hundred surgeries for pterygium, glaucoma, eyelid surgeries as well as tear duct surgeries. He performs lasers for glaucoma and can manage diabetic retinopathy with lasers and injections.

 

Dr Nadkarni relocated to Australia in 2018, and after completing the necessary training, is now a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.

Dr Nadkarni has a passion for teaching and has conducted many lectures for medical students, optometry students and ophthalmology trainees in India and Australia. He was voted the best teacher during a 4-day training program for ophthalmology trainees of Western India and has also been voted one of the top trainers by the ophthalmology trainees of Sydney Eye Hospital.

Dr Nadkarni is a member of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) and its regional divisions, World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) and Australian Society of Ophthalmology (ASO).

He is a Visiting Medical Officer in the John Hunter Hospital for Pediatric Ophthalmology and operates out of John Hunter Hospital, Kurri Kurri hospital and Newcastle Eye Hospital.

He is fluent in a few Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi, Konkani and Gujarati.
